Teens

The Mercer County District Public Library strives to serve the teens of the community by providing a welcoming environment as well as a collection of materials and programming for teens.

We are partnering with the Celina Rotary Club to create a Teen Space.

We Need Your Help!!

Do you want to be part of Teen Advisory Board (TAB)?

TAB (Teen Advisory Board) Guidelines:

MISSION:
The mission of TAB is to promote Mercer County District Library’s services to teens by:
· Assist in designing and maintaining a safe and attractive teen area.
· Planning and implementing teen programs.
· Promoting ideas for collection development in the young adult collection.
· Promoting and encouraging reading by teens.

The existence of TAB does not rule out the development of other teen programs by library staff.

MEMBERSHIP:
TAB will be coordinated by an adult library staff member who will serve as the TAB advisor and supervise TAB meetings, activities, and special projects.  The TAB advisor will provide guidance in planning teen activities and reserves the right to reject and/or revise an idea due to space or budget constraints and/or Library policies, procedures, or mission.

TAB will be limited to students in grades 7-12 selected by the Teen Librarian.  Members may serve on TAB until graduating from high school or reaching age 19 but must reapply each year.

Regular TAB meetings will be held the second Thursday of each month (August-May) from
7-8:00 p.m. at the library.  Other meetings may be scheduled as needed.

Please make every effort to let the TAB advisor know if you will be absent from a meeting. Consistent unexcused absences or disruptive behavior will be cause for removal from the TAB.  The TAB advisor will make every attempt to resolve the situation before removing the member from the Teen Advisory Board.

TAB members will show respect for other TAB members, library staff, and library patrons.  Remember that while helping as a TAB member, you are representing the library.  Members will demonstrate respect for others by listening attentively when someone is speaking, asking questions when clarification is needed, and by refraining from negative comments when responding to other people’s ideas.
